Mass Spectrometric Determinations of the Absolute Tritium Activities of NBS Tritiated Water Standards

چکیده
The tritium content of U.S. National Bureau of Standards tritiated water Standard Reference Materials SRM-4926, -4926C and -4927B have been measured by mass spectrometry, where the accumulation of 3He from tritium decay is measured as a function of time. The averaged results, which are compared with other independent calibrations, are 0.7% higher than the NBS certified values and have an uncertainty ( la) of 0.4%. Additionally, the half life of tritium has been determined from new calculations of the average energy of tritium decay, combined with existing measurements of the tritium decay energy emission rate. The new half life value, 12.38+0.04y, is essentially the same as the 12.38 _+ 0.03 ~ value recently obtained mass spectrometrically with the same analysis system used in the present measurements.

Massic Activity Ratios of the NBS/NIST Tritiated-Water Standards Issued Between 1954 and 1999
As part of the preparation and calibration of three new National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) tritiated-water radioactivity Standard Reference Materials (SRMs), the massic-activity (activity of the sample divided by the mass of the sample) ratios of all of the available NBS/NIST tritiated-water SRMs issued between 1954 and 1999 were measured using liquid-scintillation (LS) count...
متن کاملCytological damage produced in the mouse testes by tritiated thymidine, tritiated water and x-rays.
Irradiation of the mouse testes was carried out using internally distributed tritium from injected tritiated thymidine and tritiated water and also using external whole body irradiation with 200 kVp X-rays. The inability of intermediate spermatogonia to divide twice and produce resting primary spermatocytes was used as a criterion of biological damage and the following conclusions were reached:...
متن کاملOn the conversion of tritium units to mass fractions for hydrologic applications
We develop a general equation for converting laboratory-reported tritium levels, expressed either as concentrations (tritium isotope number fractions) or mass-based specific activities, to mass fractions in aqueous systems. Assuming that all tritium is in the form of monotritiated water simplifies the derivation and is shown to be reasonable for most environmental settings encountered in practi...
متن کاملReconstructing tritium exposure using tree rings at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California.
Annual tritium exposures were reconstructed using tree cores from Pinus jeffreyi and Eucalyptus globulus near a tritiated water vapor release stack. Both tritium (3H) and carbon-14 (14C) from the wood were measured from milligram samples using accelerator mass spectrometry. Because the annual nature of the eucalyptus tree rings was in doubt, 14C measurements provided growth rates used to estima...

The Lamiaceae family consists of a broad spectrum of medicinal plants involving Marrubium L. genus. Regarding the diverse pharmaceutical uses of the plants belonging to this genus, they can be considered as proper alternatives for chemical drugs having harmful effects. The present work aims to identify and characterize chemical compositions of the essential oils and volatiles from the aerial pa...
